MAde for Film screening: Pan's Labyrinth

We're launching this semester's MAde for Film series with Director Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth (2006). An informal companion piece to del Toro's earlier film The Devil's Backbone, Pan's Labyrinth fuses a young girl's harsh reality during the Spanish Civil War with the rich (and suitably dark) inner fantasy world into which she escapes. Screening Thursday 10th February at 2PM in Visual Communications 138. 119 minutes, and followed by a short discussion. Spanish language, with English subtitles.

Rebooting Cinemarilla

To coincide with the new Web Publishing component of MA Visual Communication, I'm relaunching the Cinemarilla blog. Initially I'll be posting details of this semester's MAde for Film screenings, and opening these postings up for any related discussion, should they arise. This may expand to other Film and Moving Image related content in the near future.

Hello World!

What is Cinemarilla? It's the sister blog site to the Visual Communications Moving Image Subject Route, and a home for film and video related information. The plan is to make this blog self-contained, appealing to a broader audience than those studying Moving Image, and open to the public. I'll be developing this idea over the next few months, so stay tuned.
